Take M27 exit junction 2 and follow the brown and white tourist signs towards Beaulieu. At Beaulieu Village, follow the brown and white tourist signs to Buckler’s Hard. Your admission ticket to Buckler’s Hard includes free all-day parking in our visitor car park. There are designated spaces for disabled visitors.

Decided to visit this picturesque spot last week. Arrived to find that they are now charging ?5.90 admission – a hefty amount if you just want to admire the view. The entry fee includes a couple of tiny buildings and the museum (none of which we wanted to see anyway!!!).

The walk runs from the pretty village of Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard along a section of the Solent Way long distance footpath. It uses nice flat, waymarked paths and runs for about 2 miles, so 4 miles there and back. There are long woodland sections and a delightful end to the walk at the hamlet of Buckler’s Hard.

Why is it called Bucklers Hard?
Buckler’s Hard was possibly originally named after the Buckle family, who had been resident locally since at least 1668. The suffix ‘Hard‘ was added, as is the case elsewhere on the south coast, to signify ‘a natural, firm landing place’. The Buckles, however, were not involved in the development of the site.
Can dogs go to Beaulieu?
Dogs are welcomed at Beaulieu and are permitted within the grounds, but for the benefit of other visitors we do require that they be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
